I think this is true but D-mannoheptulose is not a succinic acid ester nor succinic acid, correct?  Thanks!

Yes, you're correct.  It is neither succinic acid nor a succinic ester

One can tease out some information about this compound just from the name.  It is a ketose, not an aldose, based on the "u."  It has seven carbons ("hept").  Hope this helps.
