I guess you can call me Mr. Type A personality, but it was bugging me seeing this forum completely empty.   ;D  To keep this on topic, I'll just say that those articles by Jdurg are incredible!  I can't wait to see his pictures and to read part 1 of his three-part Alkali Metal series.  I heard that his first article will be about the Alkali Metals as a whole, with a concentration on Lithium.  Apparantly part two will deal with the common Sodium and Potassium metals, while the third part will deal with the big boys; Rubidium and Cesium.  Can't wait to read them.  ;)

Wow, how did you get "in" with Jdurg, I want to know the latest scoop on what he will be writing too. :)

What does anyone know about making pure alkali or alkali earth metals?  I mean in a "done in the corner of the lab" kind of way?
I've got nothin'

It's just an electrolysis on NaOH. It's in the citizen chemist forum.

I like his first article on "collecting your very own elements".. so informative. I didnt know it's actually possible to get our hands on certain control chemicals  8)

I want white phosphorus!!! -evil grin-

Heh.  You'll have to wait for my article on Phosphorus then.   ;D  I just got some white phosphorus to go along with my red phosphorus, and I was able to get ahold of some violet phosphorus as well.  So now I have all the "major" allotropes of phosphorus.  Pretty neat stuff.   ;D

And thank you geodome for the kind remarks.  I appreciate it.  I hope you like parts 1 and 2 of my alkali metal series as much as you liked my first article.   :)
