Make an LCD?

Like the topic says im trying to make an LCD, a very simple reflective LCD maybe one cell.
My problem is that while i understand the idea behind it and how the chemistry works i have no idea if its even possible for me to do it. So is it?

LCD Screen, like on a Calculator...or LCD Projector, as in large-screen film project-onto-the-wall things?
In either case, we can't understate the helpfulness of a
Google Search on 'Homemade LCD'
...or a google search on anything for that matter.

and a revised
google search
which excludes projectors leaves mostly peopel who have done thigns with manufactured LCDs
