Colored Smoke.?
« on: September 01, 2012, 01:03:56 PM »
Im a regular hookah smoker. If you are not familiar with a hookah it is flavored tobacco. Now I've been doing research to see if there was a way to change the color of the smoke without hurting my body. What I found was non toxic smoke ball recipes using Potassium chlorate and sugar. Now would the Potassium Chlorate catch fire by the direct heat of a hookah coal.? Any information is greatly appreciated and thank you for you're time.

No, what you suggest isn't practical at all.  There is nothing non-toxic about potassium chlorate, it breaks down into any of a number of chlorine containing gasses.  Besides which, it may even explode when heated.  I don't see how this is a "colored" smoke at all, it is simply white.  Most important of all, we never give opinions, on this forum, on the topic of internal consumption of random chemicals.  I've locked this particular topic, but feel free to ask another similar question, without asking about smoking or eating it.  Perhaps you're trying to make a prop for a play to give the caterpillar from Alice In Wonderland more pizzazz?
Hey, I'm not judging.  I just like to shoot straight.  I'm a man of science.
