I am having trouble using VSEPR theory to prove the shape of [Te(tu4)]Cl2. (tu=thiourea) is square planar. The Cl's are not involved with the shape so I'm guessing we are looking at: [Te(tu4)]2+. From this, tellurium has 6 valence electrons and tu has 8 (not sure about this, I think tu donates 2 electrons) and an overall charge of 2+. From this information, I'm not sure how square planar is worked out. Have I made a mistake somewhere?
Thanks in advance.
