Column chromatography of polar compound
« on: October 17, 2012, 08:57:21 AM »
I am currently working on the synthesis of phospholipid and facing the problem of eluting the product due to its high polarity. Any suggestions on what eluent should I try to use? will triethylamine deactivated silica gel help?

Thank you.

Have you got the final phospholipid? Which one?
You may be able to crystallise it from methyl ethyl ketone at -20°C.
Reverse phase chromatography may work. These compounds don't like chromatography, or better chromatography does not like them due to their polar and lipophillic nature.
