My son has a question and I am trying to help him. He is given the following:
2NH
3 + 3CuO
N
2 + 3Cu + 3H
2O
We are told that 2.24dm cubed of Ammonia was allowed to react. Then we are asked how many moles of Nitrogen will be formed. What I cannot understand is whether it is how many moles of N atoms or N
2 molecules? He has figured out that the volume going in equates to one mole of Ammonia, so it seems that you should get 0.5 moles of N
2 since the reaction requires 2 Amonia for each N
2. Am I off base? My son thinks I am wrong.
Appreciate any help.
