NickDC, I think you're the first person to read board rules before posting!

Those two are indeed the same compound.  I don't know the two suppliers you're looking at, but if you look at a company like Sigma Aldrich, and you find a compound and look at the various prices for that compound, prices can increase IMMENSELY as purity increases.  It's very possible you found a cheap source for the compound you desire - it might just be 98% pure rather than 99.99% pure.  It can get very expensive to eliminate trace impurities.

You've managed to pick up a lot of good chemistry theory on your own, an impressive amount.  But I'd recommend you pick up an introductory organic chemistry text and read through all the concept based chapters.  Things like resonance and aromaticity are a vital element of chem.
