what makes a good electrophile

what are some factors that must apply to make a good electrophile?, what are some factors that may apply to make a good electron?

for must, one of them i thought of was being able to accept electrons from nucleophiles...need help with more for must and may :-\

Basically it should be electron deficient so it is attracted to electron rich nucleophiles. Carbene would be a nice one.

A carbonyl group is a great example, too. Think of a Gringard reaction and think of why the carbon of that carbonyl is being attacked, what is making it electron deficient?
