Acid rain SO2+CO2+oxides of nitrogen
« on: January 01, 2013, 07:41:56 AM »
Acid rain results from SO2-CO2-oxides of nitrogen with water. Creates us H2SO4-H2CO3-HNO3. How to determine the amount of qualitative (quantitative) SO2-CO2 and nitrogen oxides in the water maybe in air. Or how can to determine the amount of qualitative H2SO4(SO2-4),H2CO3(CO2-3) and HNO3(NO-3) in acid rainwater?

Carbonate and Nitrate are minor for acidic rain. Sulfate can be determined by using barium chloride.  In acidic conditions Carbonate is not stable and carbon dioxide will evaporate. But for all you can buy indicator test stripes.
