SnCl2 complex with organic compounds

hi friends
I have some questions about SnCl2
why SnCl2 can form complex with some organic compounds?
and what is the reason of spot spraining in TLC?
when I add NaOH to my reaction mixture the complex destroys!!!  :o what is happening? ::)

SnCl2 is a Lewis acid. Plz google or look into textbooks.

thanks for reply I know SnCl2 is a Lewis acid but my question is what is the exact mechanism of this phenomenon ???
