Does aminomethylphosphonic acid react each other?
« on: January 15, 2013, 11:37:33 PM »
Hi guys.

I want to make a reaction btw poly(pentafluorostyrene)[PFS] with aminomethylphosphonic acid.

Labile p-Fluorine of PFS was easily attacked and substituted by the nucleophiles like primary amine or thiols in the presence of triethylamine(base).
(I don't know also why the base should be added)

However, I wonder if it the aminomethylphosphonic acid reacts with each other and crosslinks.

Also, I want to ask if the solvent DMF is approporiate for solvating all reagent(PFS, triethylamine, aminomethylphosphonic acid)

Thank you.

The amine is probably not very nucleophilic because it is adjacent to the phosphoric acid. Remember that although you have written its neutral form, it is probably mainly zwitterionic.

beapkman,

Do you have a literature reference for this reaction or a similar one?  Thanks.
