functional groups tests
« on: January 18, 2006, 04:55:35 PM »
Hello all:

I am looking for a complete list of tests for various organic functional groups commonly used in analysis and identification of organic compounds.  (Examples would include the Tollen's reagent test for aldehydes, the NaOH-NaHCO3-ether solubility test for phenols, etc.)  Many thanks!

If you could get hold of the book A-Level Chemistry by E.N. Ramsden, there is one!

A lot of organic lab textbooks will list these.  Shouldn't be too hard to find.  Classroom textbooks might not have this, but the lab ones will.
