partial pressure question
« on: February 22, 2013, 06:26:38 PM »
50.0g acetone (C3H6O) and 50.0g chloroform (CHCl3) are mixed together to form a solution.  The vapor pressure of pure acetone is 0.45 atm, and the vapor pressure of pure chloroform is 0.38 atm.  If this solution acts as an ideal solution, what is the total pressure over the solution and what are the partial pressures of the two components?

Do you know of any formulas that you might be able to use for this problem?
