If I have a compound, for example an amino acid, and I want to find others that are very similar, how would I do that?

In particular, I am looking for unnatural amino acids to purchase. Sigma doesn't have the best selection for what I'm looking for. It is hard to find a vendor with a good selection.

PubChem Compound "Similar Compound" feature works alright, and recommends vendors, but it doesn't provide enough actual L-amino acid analogues.

Scifinder would be ideal, assuming you have access to it. You can build the structure and put generic terms where you want, then search it. You should be able to refine the search for commercially available substances.
