Hellow,
Is this mec possible in the context of a polyketide synthase? :
The point over the O means a labeled
18
O that was experimentally observed in the endocyclic O.
This appears in Chem. Commun. 2012, 48,11772-11774
Thank you,
Samuel

I am not an expert in this area, but nothing looks obviously wrong. Was there something specific?

You will get aldol addition before you get lactonization. That only accounts for the purely intramolecular component as well, you will have a mess of intermolecular reactions as well with that many ketones just floating around.
