Redox reaction software without half-reactions
« on: April 14, 2013, 09:37:55 AM »
Does anyone know if there's any chemical software that deals with solving redox reaction in any different way other than through half-reactions? I'm particulary interested in the method of arrow linking the atoms that change their oxidation state (as shown in the picture).

Thank you.

Who cares?

I mean - it doesn't matter how you balance the reaction, what matters is that it is balanced. And yes, there are programs that will balance every reaction that can be balanced in an unambiguous way. Check my signature for an example.

I have my reasons, that's why I'm looking for this kind of software. I agree that the most important step is the exactness of the equation.

Why the secrecy about your reasons?

practically all software use a matrix method (algebraic)

I know they do, but I'm just interested if there's any kind of software that solves redox equation the way I do, matching atoms with arrows (as shown in the picture).

Half-reaction method is not the general one. Writing programs that solve only part of redox reactions is not a good idea.

Still none of you gave me the answer to my original question. Which it was if there's any program that solves redox equation matching atoms that change their oxidation state with arrows (as sown in the picture), avoiding usage half-equations. I know why I need this information and I've been solving equations this way for years, with 100%-th exactness.

I am not aware of any such program and I doubt it exists for the reasons mentioned.
