Non-metal oxides
« on: April 27, 2013, 03:42:14 AM »
In my book I read that "Non-metal oxides are often acidic", the term often is suggesting that there are some non-metal oxides which are basic oxides or amphoteric oxides. Am I right? If I am, then any example please!

They can also be neutral, or simply don't participate in any reaction that would help classify them as acidic or basic. Think NO, CO (even as the latter can be technically thought of as formic acid anhydride).
