First up.
Sorry for sort of reposting the same quibble, but it is slightly different now since I have a specific target molecule.

I've read around the target a fair bit and have found some (if not limited) literature on [N1114]TFSI but everything I have found lacks a script and i'm not sure of the equivalent anion exchange (whether PF6 in H20 will work.) ???

I'm looking for specific procedure / method / papers on [N1114] PF6 synthesis.
(N-Trimethyl-N-butylammonium hexafluorophosphate)

I've had some random (ish) replies previously and thanks for the effort but, unfortunately none have been that useful.

If anyone knows of such a procedure /method I'd be most grateful - Since it's commercially available I'm sure it exists but I'm just being unlucky / not looking in the right place .

Thanks but, I know it's commercially available (that link is also not the correct compound)
However as part of what I'm doing i'm finding synthetic methods to the ILs I require and also need prove of synthesis.

It would help us if you could post the CAS number and/or use the IUPAC name.

Have you searched the chemical databases (e.g. SciFinder, Reaxys)?

Look at Organic Syntheses, Coll. Vol. 10, p.184 (2004); Vol. 79, p.236 (2002)
where a methatesis reaction of KPF6 with 1-Butyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride is clearly described.

Thanks all for the input,

Yes I've been trying Scifinder. 

I'm just going to go for it without any specified literature, i.e quaternisation + methatesis as used before for my other ILs.

It's not so much the actual chemistry I'm looking for as much as the output data a paper would have with regard to proton NMR and IR so after the reaction I can cross reference my products spectra with it.

Either way I'm sure it'll all work out and I need to get on it so might as well have a play.
