Sharing electrons?
« on: June 13, 2013, 03:07:45 PM »
I just wanted to verify, only covalent bonds can have multiple bonds right (double, triple, etc.)? Ionic bonds will not have that?
In the Lewis structure, ionic bonds will only be represented by a single line?

In Lewis structures, the lines represent shared electrons, so no, there will be no lines, see for instance http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Lewis_structure&oldid=557632259 for atoms considered to be bound ionically
