aliphatics and aromatics

i could do with some help. this question is about lacquers. it seems to be excepted that aliphatic lacquers do not yellow when exposed to u.v. i thought that this was because of the absence of aromatics. i am now using an acrylic lacquer which the spec sheet says is absolutely non yellowing. i have read the product data sheet and see that there is a high level of xylene in both the resin and the base material. also does anyone no anything about benzotriazole as a u.v absorber. does adding a u.v absorber prevent the coating from discolouration or does it prevent u.v from damaging the substrate or underlying layers. i.e primer layers. therefore extending the life of the coating.
