Why is -OH more polar than a ketone. I had a question that said that the Rf value would be lower for compound that has an -OH group than the ketone. I don't understand why -OH is more polar. Doesn't ketone have a larger dipole moment and that would make it more polar?

What does the surface of your stationary phase look like?  What kind of interactions other than generic dipole-dipole forces are possible (or not)?

Believe it or not, this is actually an old conversation based upon the importance of dipole moment in TLC. You may fair well to search this via Google.
