Can someone explain me how local current density on the electorode (for example in the fuel cell) is produced and how to calculate it?

The current act on a surface of the electode. Current density is defined as current/area. So if you know your surface area of the electrode and the applied current you can calculate it. S = I/A [Amp/sqft] or [A/dm²]

I did some research and it turns out that the current is a function of the position on the electrode, so local current density changes at every point. I want to know what that function looks like.
