Hello, my first post here. =) My teacher gave us a practice problem for an upcoming test but has neglected to actually post the answers.

The molecule is AlCl3 - linked is the Dh3 character table (the point group of this molecule): http://www.webqc.org/symmetrypointgroup-d3h.html

Q: What are the order and number of classes of this point group?
My A: 6 and 6

Q: The characters of the reducible representation of sigma bonding ( Γσ ) are:
My A: 3, 1, 3, 0, 3, 3

Q: The characters of the reducible representation of Γtot (3N) are:
My A: 12, 0, -2, 4, -2, 2

Q: The reducible representation for the vibration Γtot (3N)equals to:
My A: A1’ + A2’ + 3E’ + 2A2” + E”

Any help or confirmation, really, would be appreciated particular on the 2nd and 4th questions. I counted unshifted and contributing atoms to find the reducible representation (Q#3, I believe?) and then simply used the table to get answer 4.

Question 2 confuses me, however, I looked at it as what happens when you shift the 3 bonds in the atom (for example, E is 3 for the 4 bonds....Al is the atom that doesn't move during C3 hence the 1, and so on and so forth)
