The problem is attached. How to calculate the amount of the intermediate (Tc)? 2500 atoms of Mo have decayed to 2500 atoms of Tc, but I know that the second decay won't wait for the first one to go to completion. What system of equations I need?

as the halflife time of the second decay is shorter than the initial decay, this is a case of tansient equilibrium

from the mathematical side, to treat such problems of interlocking differential equations, pls. look up "Bateman equation"

a special derivation for your situation / the very expression you've been asking about, you might wish to find here : link (esp. starting from middle of p. 3)
