« on: October 31, 2013, 06:23:09 PM »
Hello today we produced iodoform. but at first we creat I2 in the following reaction:
H2O+ NaOCl +2kI= I2 +2KOH+ NaCl

I wonderred if could I this reaction with KBr insted of KI to form Br2? and use it toform bromoform?

Taking halogens reactivity into account yes, I would expect Br2 can be produced this way.
