chemical equation help

How do i write NaVO3 in aqueous solution with H2SO4?

Also, if I have something in solution with water, is it necessary to write that into the equation or will (aq) suffice?

No universal answer, depending on the context different notations will be convenient. There is a whole family of vanadium oxyanions, which one dominates solution is a function of pH.

If water is only a solvent, (aq) is usually enough. If it is being consumed or produced in the reaction it has to be listed separately. However, sometimes we just want to signal the reaction, without getting into details:

Cr3+(aq) :rarrow: CrO42-(aq)

then (aq) is sufficient, even if water is definitely part of the oxidation process.

H+ok thanks :), i'm struggling with these chemical equations:-

NaVO3.H2SO4 + Zn = ZnSO4 + NaVO2 + H2O

CoCl2.C2H6O + H2O = CoCl2C2H4.2H2O

CuSO4.H2O + NH4OH = CuNSO3H.3H2O

FeSO4.H2O + C12H8N2 = FeSC12N2.5H2O

FeSO4.H2O + KSCN = KeKS2O4CN.H2O

Fe2(SO4)3.H2O + C12H8N2 = Fe2SC12N2O7.5H2O

Fe2(SO4)3.H2O + KSCN = Fe2(SO4)3KSCN.H2O

KMnO4.H2O + NaOH = KMnNaO5H.H2O

NiSO4.H2O + C4H8N2O2.C2H6O = NiSC6N2O3.8H2O

in red are my attempts.
can you help me please?

What do the dots mean? Hydration water?

That's not a standard notation, which makes it hard to follow, especially as it is not always clear what is reacting with what and what is the product you are trying to write.

It would be much better to write first equation as

NaVO3(aq) + H2SO4(aq) + Zn(s) :rarrow: NaVO2(aq) + ZnSO4(aq) + H2O
