Hello,
I have been trying to solve a problem concerning a mixture of 91 % freshwater (pH 6.96) and 9% saltwater (pH 8.05). The container has a total volume of 135 m3.
The reason for the mixing is to increase the buffer capacity of the freshwater, as this is produced by reverse osmosis and therefore very soft. The plan is to use it for live fish and I think I have calculated the distribution of Calcium correctly and ended up with an alkalinity of 99 mg/L CaCO3 . The end product will have a salinity of 3 ppt.
What I am trying to figure out is what pH the resulting mixture will have?
How do I calculate this?
