I am confused.  By coal byproducts, do you mean things that are made from coal?  Or are you looking for chemicals made using coal as a starting material?

Steel is made using coke, and one type of cement is made from fly ash.  From what I can gather, it is possible to make carbon fiber from coal, but I don't see any evidence that this is the primary way in which carbon fiber is made.
