Please teach me how this equation was balanced.

This is a redox reaction, but simple enough to be balanced by inspection.

I still have no idea start from where. Start from ion 1st or molecule 1st?

Doesn't matter what you start with - final effect will be the same.

Probably the simplest approach will be to go the redox way - separate reduction and oxidation half reactions.
