Can I do this with grignard?
« on: March 31, 2014, 09:34:04 AM »
Hi,
I wonder if I can make this ketone with grignard condition with acryloyl chloride? And then make a polymer with BPO as radical initiator? My concern is that if the double would be attacked by the carbanion in gridgnard reaction?

if you try to work with low stationary grignard-conc. (i.e. add the grignard dropwise to an excess of acryloyl chloride, to suppress secondary reaction at the keto-function), and evapotate excess acryloyl chloride off in the end, this should work
