Problem with 5890hp G/c
« on: May 21, 2014, 02:59:29 PM »
Hi, I work for P.C. College.  We acquired a hp 5890 g/c from the EPA.  We have hooked up all plumbing, electrical, and computer.  We have an electronic pressure sensor problem.  The G/c shuts down every time we start it because of a safety shut down with electronic pressure.  We need to override the system and take over the pressure safety system.  Does anyone know how? Our manuals are very vague.  We are trying to cleaning out the columns but do not want to connect the column to the detector.  When we turn down all carrier gas flow, there is no shut down.

The safety shut down kicks in when the system can not hold a constant pressure and it thinks there is a leak. I do not know of any way to override this, and you'll continue to see it if your column is not connected to the detector.  If you want to clean out the columns, can't you just connect it to the detector and run carrier gas through it with the oven held at ~200-250C?  You don't want to heat it with no carrier gas.
