Standardisation Sodium Thiosulfate
« on: June 12, 2014, 02:55:09 AM »
Hello friends.. another question:

Pharmacopoeia affirms that:

Standardisation. To 10.0 mL of 0.033 M potassium bromate, add 40 mL of water R, 10 mL of potassium iodide solution R and 5 mL of hydrochloric acid R1. Titrate with the sodium thiosulfate solution, using 1 mL of starch solution R, added towards the end of the titration, as indicator.

OK... but... what is the formula to calculate the correction factor of the solution???!  ???

What is your own attempt. Develop the equations of the used chemicals and calculate how much iodine correcpond to Thiosulfat theoretically. Compare this with the result after do the titration.
