How to vary a buffer PH
« on: July 21, 2014, 11:46:56 PM »
I want to make a buffer solution that fluctuates or changes between acid and base over time for a research experiment. The idea is to monitor the activity of a compound in an acid/base environment. I’ve tried few ideas but can’t get it to work, can get it to fluctuate. Can any specific catalyst or enzyme do it? I welcome  any suggestions.  thanks  ???

What about controlled addition of acid/base by an automatic syringe pump?

The idea is to monitor the activity of a compound in an acid/base environment.

Is there a reason why you can't monitor the compound at different pHs in different flasks?

Can you tell us what you are trying to monitor?

What have you tried?
My research: Google Scholar and Researchgate

This is a good idea but we wanted something much simpler someone we thought some kind of catalyst could do the job meaning one catalyst is active at low PH and make solution basic while the other is active at high PH and make the solution acidic; something like that.

Actually we are looking at the activity of two protein, one is active at low PH and the other at high. recently, to our surprised, we have found they interact with each other and we want to know how and why. Therefore we want a system that can vary or fluctuate from acid to basic in other to understand the mechanism of their interaction.
