Don't know about pet ether, but TFA is miscible with hexanes.

When in doubt, avoid the Stille coupling.

Palmitic acid is said to be "sparingly soluble" in petroleum ether. Other saturated fatty acids should be similar.

If the original poster ever comes back, I'd like to start off by asking them in what sense they mean -- "strong acid" , and especially the "-ish" suffix. If I assume they meany strong mineral acids, according to the Arrhenius definition:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acid-base_reaction#Arrhenius_definition
then I'd ask them to explain how they expect that to work without water. If they meant other definitions, they can be more explicit, and then this thread may be "Organic Chemistry Forum for Graduate Students and Professionals" worthy again.

O yes, "strongish"... Palmitic acid may not qualify. Caprylic acid neither
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caprylic_acid
https://www.spectrumchemical.com/MSDS/TCI-O0027.pdf
the second link claims "freely soluble" in petroleum ether, wiki "soluble".
