Im learning about the exceptions to the octet rule and how the orbital diagram is affected when the central atom is excited (pushing electrons into vacant d-orbitals). I need more information on this topic; I tried searching "octet rule," "octet rule orbital diagram," on youtube, but all i get are videos about the basic octet rule and nothing about "pushing" electrons into vacant orbitals.. What is this thing i'm searching for called?
