Filtering Spores
« on: November 06, 2014, 08:12:26 PM »
I have an organic compound dissolved in DMSO.  I am trying to filter this solution to remove bacterial spores, but the spores form a slime on the filter paper and cause a very slow filtration rate.  We have tried a number of filtration aids including celite and flocculants to get the spores to filter out easier, but without success.  Our centrifuge has not been successfull either.
Is there a method for removing a slime from organic solutions.  Maybe a different coagulant or specialized filter.  I am not a biochemist, so I appreciate any guidance.
