Can someone help me understand?
« on: February 02, 2015, 11:29:37 PM »
So I'm studying for a test this week, and I was reading a passage in the text that referenced:

Z = P*(Vbar)/(RT)

and that alpha is (1/T) or (1/Vbar)(dV/dT)p

I'm totally fine with these two parameters, but then the book instantly jumps to the conclusion that because of two things, for any gas, this equation will be true:

T*alpha = 1 + T(dlnZ/dT)p

Is there a way to actually find this equation through calculus yoga or is this something that the book is just saying because it is something that cannot easily be found?

EDIT: Nevermind, I was able to find it out after toying with it for 20 minutes.
