Sometimes when I boil the AN solution too much it turns orange and the salt is orange too later.Why does this happen and can I fix it?

What is AN. And I would be carefull to do this Ammoniumnitrate can explode.

Dont worry... its only about 100 C, AN is ammonium nitrate

I do not think anyone is going to discuss this with you in this forum.

Why is ammonium nitrate considered strictly an explosive? It has hundreds of practical uses, and is a really lousy explosive anyway.

That's just misleading. Not any ignition source. Not even close, if it's mixed with a powdered fuel yes, but by itself it won't explode unless heated under strong confinement or detonated with a #6 or higher blasting cap.

It definitely exploded more than once, so being cautious is not a bad idea.

The people responding, other than zyklon, have no idea what they are talking about.  Although, dude, lets see you get straight up AN going with a #6. maybe if the #6 is in a multi-pound booster charge first lol. 

AN is not going to det unless you have literally tonnes of it on fire.  zero lab scale explosion hazard.

OP:  check your AN source, fertilizer or cold packs often have impurities.  Might need a better recrystalisation. 

AN is a common chemical with many of uses and implying this question is about explosives use is as stupid as assuming a question about acetone is about making meth.
