How many carbon atoms are usually contained within a Pd/C catalyst? Could you have a catalyst based on no more than two carbon atoms?

vast excess. The goal is a large surface area for the palladium and hydrogen to move around quickly and collide. It can also be done without carbon using palladium nanoparticles aka metal cluster.

Simple answer is no. The highest Pd concentration I've seen is 30% on carbon.
