Hey guys, my name is Marcos and Im from Argentina. I am currently doing the "cbc" in english basic common cycle which is needed to start any career. Though they vary within each career. Im enrolled for medicine. I have chemistry classes and im loving them. They are so interesting that I might change to stuyding chemistry. I have always loved the science part, like doing research. I want to find cures for different diseases, prove different things. I enrolled to medicine because its very wide. I cando research by studying medicine also. But my question is: whats better, more interesting, and what are the differences between medicine, biology, chemistry and biochemistry? I need opinions of people who know on whats better as I dont have an idea of whats better and in argentina there is not much information. In the future I ll probably travel to the us to do a Phd

Hi Frushe,
You may want to consider Food Science.  I have always liked pretty much all sciences and food science seems to combine all of them to some extent.
www.ift.org is the organization for food scientists and it has lots more info on it.  One nice thing about a degree in food science is there are usually always jobs (people have to eat) and it's a good foundation if you want to go into another field (like medicine).

I know I didn't directly answer your question, but I just wanted to give you something else to think about if you like sciences in general.

IFT is very industry focused. It isn't necessarily the best place to find information on basic research careers, particularly chemistry related ones.

But you are right, the site is geared more towards the professionals.  I am an ambassador and volunteer from time to time spreading the word and we are trying to do a better job of outreach and what food science is all about.

A degree from an accredited school will involve multiple classes of the following: biology, chemistry, physics, microbiology, organic chemistry, food chemistry, biochemistry, nutrition chemistry, math and I'm probably leaving some out.  Just don't ask a food scientist how to cook.  Cooking classes aren't part of the degree (although I'm working on changing that)
