Molecular orbital
« on: April 22, 2015, 11:26:38 AM »
My professor drew a molecular orbital of sulfur and phosphorus, and the bond order is 2.5, meaning there are two bonds between them.
But when I draw the Lewis structure of compound of sulfur and phosphorus, sulfur obeys the octet rule while phosphorus doesn't.
Please explain how this happened, or did I interpret something wrong in there?
