OK, since I'm getting curious about this now, I've looked up a couple compounds in the database for the hell of it.  At any rate, the IR spectrum for benzamide is similar but not identical.   There's a sharp band at 3100 cm-1 on benzamide, and while there is some absorption at this wavelength on your IR spectrum, it looks like it's merged together with the C-H stretch band around 3000 cm-1.  Maybe a C-H stretch from a methyl group is causing it?  There are also bands around 1450 and 1375 cm-1 which suggest a methyl group for your mystery compound.  If you can find an IR spectrum of methylbenzamide (toluamide) somewhere, see how it compares to yours.  Unfortunately, I couldn't find it on the database.

You're right, I don't know how I ended up writing that.  A secondary amine has no asymmetric stretch.
