Would love some help or suggestions. I am trying to develop a non-toxic accelerant that I can coat light weight string in to create a fast burning wick. Briefly, we have some deep bodied vases where we set small candles in and we can no longer reach the wick without either using a super long match or try to light the candle first and then drop it into the vase.

I would like to create a fast burning wick that I could attach to the existing wick, lower the candle into the vase and then light the new fast burning wick. This is in a restaurant environment so it needs to be relatively stable.

I'd suggest looking at other non-chemical solutions. 100% non-toxic yet flammable is a nigh unachievable goal in best case & you are trying to DIY? On top of this, you are in a food handling environment where any side products or effects could have serious health and/or legal consequences.

You said you can "no longer reach the wick" is a bit ambiguous, implying that at one time you could or did you simply mean you can no longer reach the wick as a consequence of putting it in the vase? And why is using a "super long match" a problem? Super long matches have a long & storied tradition both in cartoons and in real life.

I interpret small candles as being tea lights or similar. If that is correct, I'd simply add water to the vase before inserting the candle to float the candle closer to the rim & continue using fireplace matches or a long-necked lighter. Depending on the length of the neck & water level, you could also tip the vase. Since the water is in there, the candle would auto-level giving you more control over insertion angle. Another option would be to have bottomless vases (essentially a hurricane lamp) where you simply light the candle on a plate or some such & place the lamp cover over it.
