Hydroxylamine protection with THP (NH2OH-THP)
« on: April 24, 2006, 05:20:23 PM »
I have noticed recently an amide coupling reaction between an acid and hydroxylamine (using a DCC-like reagent) in which the hydroxylamine had been protected with THP (tetrahydropyranl).
What is the purpose of this protection in this incident? (I know that THP is an alcohol/phenol protecting group, however, this time it seems it's not the case...)

Thank you!
