Terminology question - yield / recovery
« on: November 04, 2015, 03:55:35 PM »
Dear chemists,

I am struggling for vocabulary to describe something. I have a (solid) sample, then I do preparation procedure to get rid of contaminants and I end up with 20 % by weight of what I started with. So what do I call the 20 %?

Is it yield?I have seen it called analytical yield , because it is the yield before analysis. Procedural yield?  It is not really a recovery, or is it?

What would you call it?

Thanks v much,
Het
