battery acid?

What is the chemical composition of the material that forms on the posts of a wet cell battery?

battery acid = sulfuric acid (H2SO4). The Metal is lead (Pb).

edit: I'm an idiot - thought about a car-battery. Probably, because you mentioned battery acid.

When battery is fully charged, positive plate is lead and negative plate is lead dioxide.
When battery is virtually discharged, positive and negative plates are converted to lead sulfate.
