Converting Na2SO4 to a compound that will precipitate
« on: December 29, 2015, 03:25:31 PM »
Hey All,

So, I recently (unsuccessfully) tried a dehydration reaction on Table Sugar and Sulfuric Acid (My acid isn't concentrated enough but that's another story). Anyway, it didn't work, and I didn't want to waste the acid, so I neutralized it with Baking Soda to make a stable compound Na2SO4, so now, I am wondering what process I could take to convert that into a precipitating compound, or elemental sulfur in general. Vague, I know, but it's fun enough to play.

Thanks a bunch

Chason

I think you'll find that elemental sulfur ks hard to get from where you're starting.  But you can dry the liquid and get sodium sulfate back.  You can Google, or search our forum to something to do with that.
Hey, I'm not judging.  I just like to shoot straight.  I'm a man of science.
