Hi,

I don't have chemical background and i want to ask that what will happen when we mix a solution like dimethyl sulfoxide (miscible in water) and dichloromethane(immiscble in water) with water? I'm not sure but i think dmsulfoxide will soluble in water and dcm will be released.
Also how many dichloromethane can soluble in dmsulfoxide and how many dmsulfoxide can soluble in water?

Is DCM soluble in DMSO? From memory you may have to be careful as you may get a reaction here, but if not and it is soluble it's possible you may only get one phase as the DMSO pulls the DCM into one phase.

Sjb, thank you for your answer, i check the miscibilities from solvent miscibility chart. you can see the attacted file, do DMSO, DCM and water mixing rates depend on polarity of the these subtances?
Actually I'm trying to find subtances:
x,y,z
x and y miscible, y and z miscible but x and z immiscble.
for mass concentration z>>y>>x
for boiling point y>>x>>z
How can i find what they should be? Is there any software or list?
