Calculating delta G using partial pressures
« on: January 30, 2016, 06:14:25 PM »
Hello, I am confused on what I am doing incorrectly. The problem explains:

Using data from the Thermodynamic Data table, calculate ΔG for the reaction
2 H2S(g) + SO2(g) equilibrium reaction arrow 3 Srhombic(s) + 2 H2O(g)
for the following conditions at 25°C. (Assume PA, PB, and PC are the partial pressures of H2S(g), SO2(g), and H2O(g), respectively.)
PA = 1.4 ✕ 10−4 atm (PA is H2S)
PB = 1.5 ✕ 10−2 atm (PB is SO2)
PC = 3.1 ✕ 10−2 atm (PC is H2O)

The Thermodynamic table: http://www.webassign.net/zumchemp7/supplemental_data.pdf

Here is my work attached.

You're using the ΔGf° value for H2O(l) when you should be using the value for H2O(g).
